This is the true-crime story of the multimillion-dollar yuppie drug ring run by a then, twenty-six year old Larry Lavin and two of his classmates. In the high-flying 1980's, Larry Lavin was a clean-cut, Ivy-League-educated dentist living the good life in suburban Philadelphia. But, what his upper crust neighbours didn't know was that Lavin led a double life - one that would finally be exposed by a shocking narcotics investigation. Awash in sex, drugs and money, Lavin oversaw a cocaine conglomerate, buying and selling enough white powder to anesthetize thirteen Eastern seaboard states ... until the FBI cracked the ring. How was he able to create such a well-oiled network? And what brought about his untimely downfall?

This fascinating documentary examines the life of Pablo Escobar, leader of the notorious Colombian Medellin cartel and the most powerful cocaine kingpin in the history of both Colombia and the United States. Well-known for ordering homicidal attacks on anyone who stood in his way, Escobar murdered police officers, judges and presidential candidates and even blew up a commercial plane in flight.

Old Joel Smith is charged with murder in the first degree. At the trial he pleads in opposition to his own lawyers. He explains that he is now too old to be of any assistance to his widowed daughter and his grand-children who are dependent on him for support. He says he prefers death to a life of poverty and wretchedness. In telling the judge and jury his pathetic story (which is shown on the screen) old Joel betrays a love for his grandchildren and his fellow laborers that is poignant with pathos.
